David Ronca has worked at Netflix for the past 7 years. His current role is the Director of Encoding Technologies at Netflix. In this role, David manages several of the teams responsible for developing Netflix’ highly scalable cloud-based encoding system. Some of the notable projects his teams are working on include: perceptual video quality analysis, parallel and progressive inspections and encoding, IMF/MXF, audio quality, and accessibility. In addition, he manages business development in the encoding technologies space, and oversees licensing of 3rd-party video and audio technologies. Over the years, David has been a significant contributor to many key Netflix projects including the various streaming models and clients including DASH, and his teams were key contributors to the 4K/HEVC service Netflix launched in early 2014. Prior to Netflix, David was the Manager of Systems SW at Intervideo. In that role, he led development of the WinDVD Creator Authoring/Editing SDK and the WinDVR time-shifting engine.
